BGQ new CD reviewed at American Record Guide

2014 November 2 by

Spanish Dances, the Brazilian Guitar Quartet’s latest album, has just received a rave review by the Nov/Dec issue of American Record Guide, a classical music magazine active since 1935. The review, written by Kenneth Keaton, refers to the ensemble as “one of the world’s finest guitar quartets”, praising the arrangements by Tadeu do Amaral and adding that the music “just make one feel good, bathing in beauty.” The CD was released in April and it was the BGQ’s sixth album on Delos. It features music by Spanish masters Albéniz, Granados, Turina, de Falla, Rodrigo and Mompou. More information about the album and where to purchase it can be seen here.

The Brazilian Guitar Quartet embarks on another tour in the United States, a country that hosts BGQ concerts since the early years of the group. This time the appearances will concentrate mostly on the east coast, including the states of Florida, New York, Pennsylvania and Maine, besides Arizona and Iowa. The tour programs alternate between music by Heitor Villa-Lobos (from the group’s 2011 Latin Grammy winner CD) and Spanish composers such as Granados, Albéniz, de Falla and Rodrigo. During the concerts, a pre-release version of BGQ’s new CD Spanish Dances – scheduled to be officially released in April – will be available to the audiences.
